GC ALERT | Minimum wages in force as of January 1, 2022

On December 1, 2021, the National Commission of Minimum Wages published the minimum wages update, entering into force on January 1, 2022, which will be equivalent to the daily amount of MXN$172.87 while in the Northern Border Free Zone it will increase to the amount of MXN $260.34.

Such an update represents a 22% increase with respect to the minimum wage in force until December 31, 2021. If necessary, employers shall carry out the following actions: (i) make the required adjustments to their employees’ salaries for them not to be below the minimum wages; (ii) update their minimum base quotation salary for the payment of social security contributions; and (iii) provide notice to the Mexican Social Security Institute about such increases.
