Claudia Jañez

Claudia Jañez holds a Law Degree from Universidad La Salle and a Diploma in Commercial and Financial Law from Universidad Panamericana. Additionally, she has a Master of Business Administration from IPADE Business School and a Diploma of Business from Harvard Law School.

She has more than 25 years of experience working in global companies from different industries such as DuPont, GE, PepsiCo and Ford. From 2019 to July 2021, Claudia was Chairman of the Executive Council of Global Companies in Mexico, a council that integrates more than 50 global companies with a presence in Mexico; and until February 2021, Claudia was Chairman for Latin America and Global Director of Diversity and Inclusion at DuPont, where she worked for more than 13 years. Claudia is an independent board member of HSBC Mexico, Grupo Industrial Saltillo (GIS), IDEAL and the Mexican Stock Exchange.

Mariana Salazar Albornoz

Mariana Salazar holds a Law Degree from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and a Master’s Degree in International Law from University Institute of Higher International Studies in Geneva, Switzerland. She was part of the Inter-American Legal Committee of the OAS for the period 2019-2022, in charge of rapporteurships on personal data protection and international law applicable to cyberspace. Additionally, she is an Academic Programs Associate at the Auschwitz Institute for the Prevention of Genocide and Mass Atrocities and is a professor of Public International Law and Genocide and Crimes against Humanity at Universidad Iberoamericana. She has also coordinated conference cycles at the Memory and Tolerance Museum in Mexico City.

Between 2005 and 2019 she worked at the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she was Coordinator of Public International Law in the Legal Consultancy and prior to this Director of International Humanitarian and International Criminal Law in the same Consultancy. She was also Director of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights in the General Directorate of Human Rights and Democracy. She was the Focal Point of Mexico at the Latin American Network for the Prevention of Genocide and Mass Atrocities and before the Global Network for the Responsibility to Protect, as well as Technical Secretary of the Intersecretarial Commission on International Humanitarian Law of Mexico. She was also a practicing lawyer in the private sector in Mexico City. She is member of the Mexican Branch of the International Law Association and author of various academic articles on international legal topics. He is a frequent speaker at national and international forums.

Felipe Vilá

Felipe Vilá has a Bachelor’s Degree in Economic and a master in administration from Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara and he obtained a PhD in Economy from the Texas University in Austin. He is the former Chief Executive Officer of Corporación Mexicana de Inversiones de Capital, S.A. de C.V., also known as “Fondo de Fondos” (“Fund of Funds”), a position he held since 2009. Fondo de Fondos is an investment vehicle created by four Mexican development banks (Nacional Financiera, Focir, Bancomext and Banobras). Fondo de Fondos manages commitments of over USD $787 million in 66 private equity funds (mainly growth capital and venture capital strategies), with accumulated participation in more than 435 companies in Mexico and Latin America.

Felipe has more than 20 years of experience in the financial industry, including project finance, mergers and acquisitions, privatizations and capital markets. His project finance experience includes bids from international and national consortia on projects of power generation centrals, highways, ports, water treatment plants, water distribution reds, and other infrastructure projects. Additionally, Felipe led investment teams responsible for the privatization of over 100 State-owned companies and participated in more than 20 mergers in Mexico, Colombia, and Venezuela. Before joining in Fondo de Fondos, Felipe was Head of the HSBC Investment Bank and CEO of HSBC Securities in Mexico. He regularly participates as panelist in many Private Equity and Venture Capital events in Mexico and Latin America.

Francisco Labastida

Francisco Labastida has a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from UNAM, with postgraduate studies in Project Evaluation in Mexico, and in Educational Planning at CEPAL in Santiago de Chile. He began his public administration career as a student, in 1962 at the Mexican Ministry of Finance. Among the most important public positions he has held the following stand out by historical sequence: Deputy Director of Public Investments of the Secretariat of the Presidency; Director of Tax Promotion at the Ministry of Finance; Undersecretary of Programming and Budget of the Programming and Budget Ministry; Energy Secretary for Energy, Mines and State-owned Industry; Governor of the State of Sinaloa; Ambassador of Mexico in Portugal; Director General of Federal Roads and Bridges of Revenue and Related Services; Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development; Government Secretary; and PRI Candidate for the Mexican Presidency in 2000.

He was also a Senator representing the State of Sinaloa and chaired the Senate Energy Commission. He currently works in his Development, Economics and Finance Consultancy.

José Ramón Cossío

Jose Ramón Cossío is a former Justice of the Mexican Supreme Court where he was from December 2003 to November 2018. He studied a Law Degree at University of Colima, a Master’s Degree in Constitutional Law and Political Science at the Center for Constitutional Studies of Madrid, a Master’s Degree in Law at UNAM and a PhD at the Faculty of Law of the Complutense University of Madrid.

In 1983 he began his career as a professor at various academic institutions, and since 1987 at the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM), where he also held the position of head of the Law Department from 1995 to 2003. He is a member of editorial boards in national and international specialized magazines and a columnist in the newspapers El País and El Universal, as well as a regular contributor to the magazine Proceso. Currently, he is an associate researcher at El Colegio de México, Professor at ITAM and directs the Instituto para el Fortalecimiento del Estado de Derecho, A.C.

He has developed his professional activity in teaching, research, and public service. His main area of ​​research is constitutional law, although he has also worked on other branches of law. He has received multiple national and international recognitions and written 31 books and more than 750 articles in collective books, academic notebooks, specialized magazines, popular magazines, and newspapers. He has given multiple talks, courses, seminars, presentations, and speeches at various universities in Mexico and abroad.

Sergio Contreras

Sergio Contreras is a Business Administrator from UNAM and has a Master’s Degree in Port Infrastructure from the University of Naples in Italy. He has also served as Executive Vice President of the Mexican Business Council of Foreign Trade, Investment and Technology, A.C. (“COMCE”) and currently President of Capital IT México. Similarly, he has been President of the Board of Directors of Pirelli México. Prior to this, he was representative in Mexico of the Banco di Roma, and was decorated with the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.

He is an Independent Director in various banking institutions and private equity funds.
