Gonzalez Calvillo, October 18th, 2023.- On May 19th, 2021, the “Decree amending the Thirteenth Transitory Article of the Hydrocarbons Law, published in the National Official Gazette on August 11, 2014” was published in the Federal Official Gazette (the “Decree”).
The Decree revoked the Energy Regulatory Commission’s (“CRE”) power to subject Petróleos Mexicanos (“Pemex”) or its subsidiares to asymmetric regulation (refers to a regulatory approach in which different rules, standards, or requirements are applied to different entities, industries, or activities based on specific characteristics or circumstances) managing first-hand sales of hydrocarbons, petroleum products, or petrochemicals (“VPM”), as well as VPM trade carried out by individuals supervised by Pemex or its subsidiaries.
